Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Invitation

My heart, a solitary beautiful lake which trembles,
Where haunted, furtive birds and brambles brush and gently sway,
And cerulean sylphs in silver flocks assemble
In a diaphanous eve where flowers decay.

The moon lets dream its infinite pallor;
Twilight, in crystal, bathes its rosy feet
And out on its banks, in harmonies eternal,
Thirsting, pure sighs from large, broad reeds.

A temple in the milieu, columns all blanched,
Born of jasmine's secret indifference;
Ring doves in blue sky flirt among branches...
Whom will be among the first to give in?

The lake is green, the lake is blue;
Behold, the knelling of the smoldering fire.
Ring the hour with the undines and campaniles.

Dame with green eyes, dame with eyes of blue.
Dame of autumn with a heart all chill.

With thy rippling fan,
Do come - soothe the dragonfly1s flight
From the twilight...

The gondolas there, fragile and cambered,
With a dying embrace on the sleeping deaf pool,
The gondolas make weep, with roses encumbered,
Their oars of gold over the odorous floods.

Ships of love with robes of velour,
Die on the water, these captives in torment...
Oh! which fine fingers will loosen these moorings
Some evening, amongst the hair of the rattans?

Who, from there, will come, when will the hours resound,
To sail, lost in the sky and the pale soft moon?
Who, with a sweet sob from the melodies in minor,
Would conceal with a kiss the essential word?

Which - Cydalise or Linda - which of thy semblance's
Would like thee down on your knees?
No matter... the heart is sad, their kisses are sweet...
My heart, a solitary beautiful lake which trembles,

O les Belles, embarquez vous!

Invitation

La lune y fait rêver ses pâleurs infinies ;
L'aurore en son cristal baigne ses pieds rosés ;

Éclos dans les tiédeurs secrètes du jasmin ;

Le lac est vert, le lac est bleu ;

Keepsake

Her dress of tulle with roses pale,
And pink-pale were her lips, and eyes so cold,
Like dreamy waters of the forest's soul, blue and cold,
A Tyrrhenian Sea with friendly langours.

In sweet petals she soothed her life,
So softly did she die, her feet they formed a cross;
And when she sang, her crystal voice
Did bleed her heart from all its native wounds.

Her moments were always sad, an iron braclet,
Where his name in whiteness was engraved, "Stephan",
Seemed the exile's very bitter ring of rivets.

In a bloodstone's diaphanous perfume
She died, fixing her sails on the sea,
She died admist the autumn... and about the winter...

And it was like a music that slowly began to fade...

Keepsake

Très douce elle mourait, ses petits pieds en croix ;

Far East

Life is a flower I barely breath,
For all the worldly scents at heart, are painful,
I ignore the vain hour, the men who go,
In the Isle of Enamel, my whim is king.

My delicate bliss is a porcelain thing
I dare not touch, only if I am careful.
The azure breathes like steam from my tea,
Its fragrent escape transports my suff'ring.

I dwell in a rose kiosk in midst of wonder,
I let the day pass and watch from my window
Rivers of gold and landscapes of blue.

And royal poet, enrobed in vermillion,
About the flow'ring fan of whom it is formed,
I gaze to capture my dream papillion.

Extrême-Orient

Je n'y touche jamais qu'avec un soin profond ;

Les fleuves d'or parmi les paysages bleus ;

Music on the water

Oh! Listen to the symphony;
No softness like anguish
In the unlimitable euphony
Breathing in the vaporous distance;

The night, a langour intoxicates,
And delivers our heart
From the monotonous labor of living,
One dies a langourous demise.

Let us slip between sky and wave,
Let's slip beneath the deepening moon;
All my heart, from the world away,
Takes refuge in thy eyes.

And I gaze at thy pupils
That swoon beneath mushrooms,
Like two ghostly flowers
Under melodious rays.

Oh! Listen to the symphony;
No softness like anguish
Of the lips on lips, kiss
In the unlimitable euphony...

Musique sur l'eau

Oh ! Écoute la symphonie ;
Rien n'est doux comme une agonie
Dans la musique indéfinie
Qu'exhale un lointain vaporeux ;

D'une langueur la nuit s'enivre,
Et notre coeur qu'elle délivre
Du monotone effort de vivre
Se meurt d'un trépas langoureux.

Glissons entre le ciel et l'onde,
Glissons sous la lune profonde ;
Toute mon âme, loin du monde,
S'est réfugiée en tes yeux,

Et je regarde tes prunelles
Se pâmer sous les chanterelles,
Comme deux fleurs surnaturelles
Sous un rayon mélodieux.

Oh ! écoute la symphonie ;
Rien n'est doux comme l'agonie
De la lèvre à la lèvre unie
Dans la musique indéfinie...

Arpeggio

The sighing soul of the flute
Amidst the melodious park;
Where, in the limpid shade,
Thy quiet poem is whispered.

Night of langour, night of lies,
Where the swaying hint of illusion
Gives your dreaming hair
The moon, and Eastern jewel.

Sylva, warbler and wooded,
Comely with a coy blue glance,
Mirrored star in the springs,
By the silver paths, go,

Quickly, go - time is short!
Pluck from the garden of whispers
The dying hearts which dream
To die amongst thy hair...

Arpège

L'âme d'une flûte soupire
Au fond du pare mélodieux ;

My heart is a Spanish princess on display

My heart is a Spanish princess on display,
An eternally royal exile, reflecting herself
In abandoned mirrors from an ancient escurial
And in lost toils of the paths and ways.

At the foot of her armchair, with languishing eyes,
Downcast and noble, two greyhounds of Scotland
Persue, when ever she wishes, those most symbolic of beasts,
In groves of Dream and Enchantment.

Her favorite page, called 'Once upon a time',
Chants to her in half tones, sorcerous poetry,
Never the less, immobile, with tulips between fingers
She hearkens to die in this, her mystery...

The surrounding garden extending its foliage,
Its statues, its basins, its ramps with balusters,
And grave, it inebriates these illustrious visions
Which embezzle for us these most noble horizons.

Softly, there she resigns, and without surprise,
Knowing too well; its useless to strain,
And feeling, despite this disdain,
Sensible to pity, like a wave or breeze.

There she resigns, softly and with no more sighs
When only its darker she evokes in dreams
Some sunken Armada of the eternal lie,
And so much of hope...lulled deep under these streams.

When her presumptuous sobs in twilights of crimson,
Portraits of Van Dyck with pure and long fingers,
Pale black velvet, old fashioned gold on the pictures,
This, thier grandiose dead airs, has her dreaming of empire.

The old pipe dreams of gold dipels her anguish,
And visions where her ennui has vanished,
Suddenly - by glory or sun - a ray that is striking,
Illumins them all, these rubies of arrogence.

But. for a sad smile she quites these fevers,
and, fearing the throngs with tumults of iron,
She lets life slip away - far away - as the sea
Embeds the secret most firmly upon her lips.

All is still, near the chill faint water of her eyes,
Here waits the veiled Ghost of Dead Cities,
And by the rooms, soundlessly gates turn,
She continues enchanting mysterious words.

There, vain water jets - falls low in cascades,
And, pale in the casement, with a tulip between fingers,
Reflecting herself in the old mirrors of yore,
And in the lost toils of the paths and ways.

My heart is a Spanish princess on display.

L'Hermaphrodite

Épuise ses yeux verts en un rêve sans fin ;

S'estompe en velours d'ombre à sa bouche ambiguë ;

De ton écume d'or, ô Beauté suraiguë.

This evening

This evening, thy sickly flesh has indolent langours;
Your gladiolus, beautiful between thy fingers, die.
This evening the storm broods, and the odor of limes
Through moments between opening , makes fade thy lips.

At the bottom of abandoned fields, eyes plunges
Under the one naked in shrouds, begining to grow, we feel
This tragic solemnity it is to be alone
And our voices are covered with a anxious mystery.

Sometimes, a livid summer lightning shines
And its sudden clearness, flooding your fraility,
Gives you the fatal beauty of the sibyls.

Again the shade becomes hotter and more sinister
And burning the black air, our inert hearts
Are as two torches which would watch, for one moment, a death.

Ce soir, ta chair malade ...

Ce soir, ta chair malade a des langueurs inertes ;
Entre tes doigts fiévreux meurent tes beaux glaïeuls ;

Cette solennité tragique d'être seuls ;

Parfois brille, livide, un éclair de chaleur ;

A Somber and Splendid Softness

A somber and splendid softness
Floated under the starry sky,
One might say up there, in the darkness
A paradise fell or died.

And like the burning odor,
The fevered scent in the jet night,
From a hair of a belovéd
Untied through the twilight.

All space languishes of fevers.
On words which close the eyes,
The numinous heart of hearts
From there is coming on the lips to die.

And from my lips evaporates
The incense of last blisses,
And of this still vibrating heart
Arise vague melancholies,

For all these which are on the earth,
Arms held tight, by such a twilight,
A point in their lonely hearts they do not have
For a name, in silence, with which to sigh.

Sleepless Night

This night, you will nurse in each vase
Shivering - still damp - a sheaf of flowers.
The torchless chanber, where your belovéd pallor
Will be embedded, is like a dream in vaporous gauze.

To breathe emphatically all our prosperity,
On the morose piano, where tears will flutter,
Your hands will make sing your angelic sorrows,
And I will listen to you silencer of ecstasy.

And such will we love, severe and taciturn,
Alone, a kiss perhaps on your slender nails,
Which will be the drop overflowing the urns.

O Sister! in the sky of thy purity
Virginal Desire of muted love
Slowly embarks like a silvery star!

Tears

Tears of suspended flowers,
Tears of ruined fountains
And moss of hollow rocks;

Scattered tears of autumntime,
Tears of cornets heard,
Greiving in vast forest pines;

Tears of Latin bells,
Carmelite nuns, Feuillantines...
Voices in the belfries cry;

Tears, tones of silvery hymns,
In the golden urns,
On the earthly gardens that dream;

Tears of star-lit nights,
Tears of shrouded flutes,
Sleeping in azure parks;

Tears with pearly lashes,
Splashing tears of love,
The very heart of a belovéd friend;

Trickels of ecstasy, delicously weeping,
Drop from the night! Drip from the rose! Fall from the eyes!

And you, my soul, a tender harmonious river,
Rich in a exhausted treasure of the vacant urn,
Rolls a vast wave of a lament to the sea of the languid eve.

Son âge fait trembler le songeur incertain ;

Accompaniment

Silver limes, birch and poplar...
The moon is losing its leaves on the water...

Like long combed hair in a evening zephyr,
The dark lake of the night of fragrance is perfumed by summer,
This lake, scented and grand, is shining as a mirror.

The oar rises and dips,
And slips my boat into dream.

My boat glides in the sky
About the ethereal pool...

Two oars I balance,
This one1s Languor, the other Silence.

In rhythm and eyes closed shut,
Row, O heart, thy indolence
By long deep strokes, slow and swooning.

Over there the moon is listening, upon a slope it leans,
My drifting boat exhales the silent dreams...
Three fresh cut lilies, fading, die on my coat.

About thy lips, O Night, voluptuous and pale,
Is this their heart or my soul that is exhaled?
The silver hair of night is brushed by swaying reeds...

Like the moon on a lake,
Or an oar in the floods,
My heart is losing its leaves in the sobs!

Confins

S'affiner l'âme en une extase si ténue ;
Jouir son coeur sur une pointe de compas ;
Tenter parmi des flacons d'or d'exquis trépas ;

Faire flotter comme du silence en arpèges ;

I dream of soft verses and intimate warblings

I dream of soft verses and intimate warblings,
Of verses that brush the heart as wings might do,

Of blonde verses whose liquid meanings untie,
Below the wake's flow, from Ophelia's long hair,

Of verses of silence without rhythm or plot
Where soundlessly rhymes slip past like oars,

Of verses extenuated in old fabrics,
Impalpable, like sounds or clouds,

Of fall evening verses bewitching the hours,
With feminine rituals in minor key syllables,

Of amourous night verses enerved by verbena,
Where the spirits' sensing, exsquisitly - barely - a caress.

Where the depths of bathed nerves in waves of coaxing,
Dies endlessly in feline swoons,
Like fragrencies dissloved in secret tepidities,

Gold viols, and pianissim' amorose....

I dream of soft verses fading like roses.

October is fresh

October is fresh - the falcon of winter sets out
With the sky, frightening the last swallow away.
Let's dream - The fire is lit and the northwind is humming.
Let's dream - beneath its ermine ash, where the fire is dozing.

The crystaline skylight of rose is illumined.
From the monotonous downpour the pane window is darkened.
Oh! The soft "remember" in the chamber of autumn.
Where the heart is scattered against dead pier-mirrors.

The town is distant. Only more of the cars slow noise
Dies off, with melancholy, in the taprestry's deep thick folds.
Let's dream fine dreams in minature.

Fading in the soft mauve distance,
My heart was undone; and the Hour bedecked with ribbons
Tolls a millenium on the clock of antiquity..

Jouant aux vagues d'or des vieilles mers païennes,
Innocents, radieux, ivres, les deux mains pleines
Des fruits juteux cueillis aux jardins ingénus.

Pensive et poursuivant ses antiques chimères
L'âme assise non loin surveille leurs ébats ;

Lust

Lust... fruit of death of the tree of life...
Forbidden fruit... that grinds the teeth of desire.

Chimeric gold... on the sands of Ennui.
Girl inflamed... with Night and ancient Desire.

Sealed pearl of Sin... below the seven veils.
Fire of fire, blood of blood, and the pith of our marrow.

Subterranean potion of the witch of Bohemia,
Leech of brains... breaker of loins.

I salute you, o most occult, o most profound,
Lust... dark pavilion to this world.

Lust... the sounds ascent to magnificence,
Orgiastic diadem... mask of impudence.

Nudity... divine roseate flower of the woman.
Paradise of flesh where sobs the soul.

Sweeping long hair through narcotic night airs.
An aroma's dark spells... black perfumes.

Chants in long waves of blood. Tears of euphoria,
Shivers, caresses, all now deaden these waves...

A full caress of the nerves... an infinite caress!
A long caress of these eyes... swooning...

Music in the softest of flowers... o weakness,
The cord of Silence drawn by the ecstatic languid bow.

Lips!... Lips!... to kiss what dies, to kiss what bites,
Lips!... bed of love profound, like death!

I salute you, o most occult, o most profound,
Lust... celestial abode in this world's sad sky.

·

Lust... subtle asp with bones benumbed.
Shrill desires... sharp as points of scissors.

Bell of stupor... that tolls the searing minuets.
Succubus... sister of night, jealous of the virtuous.

Sleepless brambles... in frustrated awakenings.
Sabbath... teeming fresco on the wall of sleep.

Gaping wound... at the tic-tic rattle of the snake.
Tantalus trembling... at the sharpest of snippings.

A frost aflame... a flame of chills.
A beast of pleasure, asleep in the corpulent sty.

I salute you, o most occult, o most profound,
Lust... devouring eye with this world in thy gaze!

·

Lust... savage vision of the Tropics.
Barbarous kings among the plumes and piques.

Jade palace on the Ganges's alien bank.
Gigantic gardens... hidden golds... perfumed lakes.

Germinal fears of the torrid Equators.
Golden silence... scourges and whips the flight of the Spanish fly.

Vertigoes from fleece and bitter perfumes.
Reflecting blood moon on the rank green swamp of the poisons.

I salute you, o most occult, o most profound,
Lust... terrible black Idol to this world.

·

Lust... tiara of Caesar, pale and insane.
Hetæra's necklace on russet-red hair.

Queen of mimes, Queen of rhythms and dance.
Arch of triumphal gold of the Decedents.

A dream aghast of the zealous Sultans
Amongst tigers and sumptuous marbles.

Bloody wet flowers... Delights and torments,
Dead breath of the chalices... most suave.

Flutes, cymbals and lutes aflame in the torches!
Dead brides with green lamps in their tombs.

Waning empire of the East... Apotheoses.
Cult of the weeping erethisms.

Last feasts... last sighs... quite rattles
From violent phosphorescent arts on fire.

I salute you, o most occult, o most profound,
Lust... radiant gold Leper of this world.

·

Lust... carnal hearts filled with burning breath,
Passion... pious shivers on a crimson sea.

Vine of pleasure with grapes hung low, ambrosial
And sensual wine... fanning the flames of frenzied sex.

Balm of evil love... Cordial of rancor.
Tavern on the road for the pilgrims of heart.

Ephemeral vibrating... in infinite tremors.
Dream afoot... limping where fountains live.

Forgotten breast... and valor of the timid.
Servant's opium... and Bitch of the leper.

The brimming urn where the lips are all maddened.
Feeble power of the affected.

Virile turf of the midnight killer of remorse.
And again the flask, the mouth sips with death.

The grand nostalgia's splenderous sloop,
Nave and lofty prow, scuds along the orgy's open sea.

Trotting mare of the cavalier... nostrils aflame,
Hairs on end, with a broad gallop towards nothing.

At the bottom of sulfurous seas - still burning,
The gardens of Sodom, the turrets of Gomorrah.

From the sky of anguish to the ends of the bewildered paths,
Martyrdom! Ecstatic tears fill the writhing heart!

Moiré tower, where the Enchanter, in his circle of flames
Conjures and angers the infinite ones by rites aflame.

Cravings of mortal sin, thirst and hunger,
Abyss... shadeless sun, and infinitely endless twisting spiral.

·

Lust... nerve of nerves... acid of acid.
Lust... ideal suicide of damned love.

Spasm of unity... wedding of the absolute.
Lust... world's end and complete cycle.

Virgin of blood and gold... consoler of virgins.
Virgin... virgin forever... devourer of virgins.

City on fire... philter of Lethe... gimlet of iron.
Damned virgin and Our Lady of Hell.

I salute you, o most occult, o most profound,
Lust... Immortal empress of this world.

Nuit blanche

Tes mains feront chanter d'angéliques douleurs

Les heures de la nuit sont filles de la peur ;

Et peu à peu j'éprouve à me dévisager
Comme une inexprimable et poignante souffrance,
Tant je me sens lointain, tant ma propre apparence

L'angoisse comme un drap mouillé colle à ma chair ;

Ricane en égorgeant lentement des colombes ;
